Metrics Analyst records the name, grain, numerator and denominator expressions, unit, aggregation method and version. The definition starts as Draft.
Data Steward checks the expressions against the source and approves the definition, and is recorded as the reviewer. An earlier version is Retired.
Data Steward captures a snapshot with coverage start and end, record count and freshness, using the reviewed mapping for that source.
Observations and results are calculated per period and dimension from fresh snapshots and the approved definition. Each result is Calculated, Suppressed or Invalid with a reason.
