Upload to publication

Take a video asset from upload through processing and an independent review decision to publication.

Step by step

  1. Upload the asset Content Operator

Content Operator records the asset with number, name, owner, organization and subscription plan, and attaches evidence such as rights clearance and captions. The asset starts as Uploaded.

    • Asset created at Uploaded
    • Updates Video assets, Evidence documents
  2. Process the revision Content Operator

The operator starts processing for the current revision. Input is validated, the asset moves to Processing and the real transcode outcome is recorded. A run with numbered steps and a history entry is written.

    • Uploaded → Processing; transcode status recorded
    • Updates Video assets, Operation runs, Operation steps, State history
  3. Review the revision Content Reviewer

The validated revision goes to a Content Reviewer who did not prepare it. The reviewer verifies the evidence and records Approved, Returned or Rejected with a reason. Approval moves the asset to Reviewed.

    • Decision recorded; Processing → Reviewed on approval
    • Updates Review decisions, Evidence documents, Video assets
ApprovalA person approves before the work moves on.
  4. Publish Content Operator

    • Reviewed → Published with completed at
    • Updates Video assets, State history

Where it usually breaks

And how to keep it from happening.

  • A failed rendition is missed and the asset reaches review incomplete.
  • The files change after approval and the old decision is used to publish.
  • Evidence is attached but never verified.
  • The person who prepared the revision approves it.
