Partner-led programs
An organization may run volunteer work for a partner or client. organizations holds the partner's name, code, time zone, currency and active status. volunteers can refer to that organization, allowing Volunteer Coordinator to see the context while selecting people for shifts. program activities and volunteer shifts hold the work dates and staffing needs.
How Volunteer Management is set up for you
Partner context
Use the Organization reference on a volunteer consistently so directory filters and handoffs mean the same thing to staff.
Role rules
Set screening and minimum-age requirements in volunteer roles before opening shifts that use those roles.
Placement trail
Record each volunteer-to-shift assignment, review its submitted status and retain the decision and reviewer.
Exception review
Follow Failed or needs review action receipts to the parent assignment before retrying a decision.
Choose one active partner and one planned activity. Enter the partner record, the participating volunteers and a role for the work. Plan a dated shift with a location and places needed. Have Volunteer Coordinator create a placement through the assignment action, then inspect the returned record and receipt. Review that placement and check the linked review decisions entry.
Before expanding, agree whether organizations represents the partner sponsoring a volunteer or the program serving them. The field sits on volunteers, so a shared definition prevents inconsistent reporting. Also agree which time zone staff use for a shift: organizations has a time zone value, while a shift's start and end values are text. Those choices should be settled before coordinators communicate a schedule.
