What you can do

Keep the disposal journey with the material stream

A disposal manifest records the stream being moved, the quantity collected and the carrier and destination involved. Operations Officer starts from the selected stream so the manifest retains its relationship to the original work order. The collected date helps the team distinguish an actual movement from a draft still being prepared.

The permitted path runs from Draft to Collected, then Transferred and Certified. Each step has a different operational meaning. A collected quantity records the collection; the transfer identifies the movement toward its destination; certification depends on genuine supporting evidence. The team should be able to explain each step without treating a later status as a substitute for the underlying record.

Agree the certificate-checking procedure during setup. Operations Reviewer checks that the document concerns the actual stream and destination. Operations Officer attaches the certificate and records the outcome through the permitted manifest path. Keep the document with that movement so a similar earlier certificate cannot be mistaken for its evidence.

How the work is organized

  • Draft preparation. Operations Officer selects the stream and prepares the quantity and movement details. The action validates the linked records and the permitted actor before accepting the submission.
  • Movement recording. Collection and transfer follow the permitted sequence. Carrier and destination details make the handoff understandable to the reviewer and the person following up with the receiving party.
  • Certification evidence. Operations Officer retains the certificate with the manifest and records the certified outcome under the agreed disposal procedure. A rejected, duplicate or replayed submission follows its reasoned branch without writing another manifest effect.

What to agree during setup

Agree how the team names carriers and destinations. Carrier is recorded as text, so use a consistent business name that someone can recognize when investigating a movement. The partner directory can help the team find contact information without changing the meaning of the recorded carrier.

Confirm how the stream’s unit applies to the manifest quantity. Decide who obtains the certificate and what the reviewer needs to check before accepting it as evidence for that movement. Use the organization’s established disposal review procedure, with the required document source identified before the first collection leaves the site.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Take the captured offcut stream and prepare a manifest for the sample collection. Record the actual collected date and quantity, then follow the permitted transfer step with the agreed carrier and destination. Operations Reviewer should be able to trace the manifest back to the site’s work order through the stream.

Rehearse a transfer awaiting its certificate. It should remain visible for follow-up rather than being treated as certified. Add genuine evidence for the selected movement and test the permitted certification action. Finally, repeat a submission and try a skipped transition. Inspect the reasoned response and verify that neither attempt writes an extra movement or bypasses the required path.

What your team sees

  • Manifest Progress — Collected and transferred movements with their carrier, destination and quantity.
  • Certificate Follow-up — Transferred manifests whose evidence needs the reviewer’s attention.
  • Certified Disposals — Certified movements with the retained certificate attachment.

Follow the work through

Use manifest to certificate and resolve an exception when evidence is outstanding.
