What you can do
Describe the material in its operating context
A waste stream belongs to a particular work order. Operations Officer captures the stream name, material type, hazard class and unit against that selected order. This gives the later disposal manifest a clear starting point: the manifest concerns the material stream captured for that work, at that site.
The material description helps people distinguish scrap collected for recycling from other waste leaving the facility. Use the organization’s approved classification source when recording the hazard class. The recorded classification needs a responsible reviewer who can assess the evidence before the team relies on it for the disposal handoff.
The capture action attributes the submission and sends immutable evidence to Operations Reviewer. A correction appends successor evidence so the original submission remains traceable. When a genuine certificate is still outstanding, a pending-certificate exception keeps the follow-up tied to the operating work.
How the work is organized
- Parent work. Operations Officer selects the operational order before capturing the stream. The site and assigned work context stay available through that relationship.
- Material definition. Stream name, material type and hazard class describe what is being handled. The unit establishes the basis for interpreting the quantity recorded later on a disposal manifest.
- Evidence review. Operations Reviewer assesses submitted evidence through the review action. Corrections retain the earlier evidence, and certificate follow-up remains visible until genuine supporting material exists.
What to agree during setup
Agree the naming convention for streams at the pilot site. Similar material names should not hide differences that affect the organization’s handling decision. Identify the source used for material classification and who checks the hazard description before review.
Choose units that the field team and receiving partner can interpret consistently. If a stream uses kilograms, the manifest quantity must carry that meaning through the stream relationship. Agree how a corrected classification is submitted and how the reviewer finds the earlier evidence. Also name the person who follows up when the certificate is outstanding after collection or transfer.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Rehearse a stream captured under the offcut collection order. Operations Officer records the material description and the agreed mass unit, then submits the evidence. Operations Reviewer checks that the selected parent is the actual work being performed, rather than another open order at the site.
Next, correct a material description in the rehearsal. The reviewer should see successor evidence without losing the original submission. Try a capture action against an unauthorized order and confirm it cannot create a stream in that scope. Finally, inspect the pending-certificate exception: its reason should explain the missing evidence and its work-order link should lead back to the same operating case.
What your team sees
- Waste Stream Register — Captured material definitions with their unit and parent work order.
- Exception Queue — Certificate follow-up and other issues that need investigation.
- Work Review Queue — Submitted parent work to inspect alongside its stream evidence.
Follow the work through
Follow capture and review a stream, then manifest to certificate.
