Keys and references

A charter booking references one vessel, one customer party and one crew lead from People. A trip references one customer party, one vehicle and one driver from People. Stops, delivery evidence, transport documents and charges each reference one trip. Each People record references a user account. Charter bookings and trips share the customer record, so plan the transfers for a charter by customer and dates.

Keep stable source identifiers for vessels, customers and crew, and import references by those identifiers rather than by display names. Keep stop sequence numbers as they were planned. Keep proof files and document files with the trip they belong to.

Migration order

  1. Load Users, then People with each person linked to their user account.
  2. Load Parties with their party type and email.
  3. Load charter vessels with passenger capacity, crew required and inspection due dates, and Vehicles with their status.
  4. Load open charter bookings at Requested, Confirmed or Underway, with vessel, customer and crew lead.
  5. Load open Trips with their trip stops, then delivery evidence, transport documents and trip charges for trips not yet invoiced.
  6. Reconcile open bookings, open trips and uninvoiced charges with the source, test permissions and replay the exception cases before opening the next charter week.
