Arrival to dock completion

Take a trailer from recorded arrival through independent review to an evidenced dock outcome.

Step by step

  1. Record arrival Inventory Clerk

Inventory Clerk matches the physical trailer to its load and records arrival, waiting minutes and parking slot in a Draft yard visit. Confirm the carrier and intended door against the parent load before directing the trailer onward. The arrival time should reflect the observed event.

    • Draft visit linked to physical arrival
    • Updates Yard visits, Loads
  2. Submit the visit Inventory Clerk

Inventory Clerk checks the current load and visit revisions, then submits the Draft visit. The submitted details form the review context. A stale browser action must refresh before it can change the record, and each successful visit transition raises its revision.

    • Current visit becomes Submitted
    • Updates Yard visits, Loads
  3. Approve dock assignment Transport Supervisor

Transport Supervisor reviews the submitted evidence and records Approved or Rejected with a reason. The reviewer must be different from the visit creator. Confirm dock availability against the reservation authority before authorizing the intended action; a conflicting instruction needs resolution.

    • Independent Approved or Rejected decision
    • Updates Yard visits, Review decisions, Loads
ApprovalA person approves before the work moves on.
  4. Complete dock work Inventory Clerk

Inventory Clerk executes approved work with confirmed source authority. The visit becomes Completed only after the effects persist. Compare the resulting operation receipt with the intended trailer and door, and retain an unresolved result for investigation rather than assuming the move succeeded.

    • Persisted action precedes Completed
    • Updates Yard visits, Operation receipts, Loads

Where it usually breaks

And how to keep it from happening.

  • The parking instruction changes after the reviewer opened the visit. Refresh the revision and evidence before deciding.
  • The preparer tries to approve their own request. Assign an independent Transport Supervisor for that shift.
  • A successful decision is mistaken for a completed movement. Inspect the persisted action result before closing the visit.
