What you can do
Explain the movement on the borrower's account
Independent Credit Approver reconciles a provider account using its dated balance snapshots and source-identified movements. Each movement retains the provider event reference, amount and occurrence date. The application connection gives the reviewer a route back to the confirmed instruction. Start with the account itself so a similar movement on another farm’s account cannot satisfy the match.
A movement becomes Matched only when the amount and confirmed occurrence date agree exactly with an instruction linked to the same account. A near match needs investigation. Keep a differing amount or date visible as Unmatched or Exception while the team checks the provider evidence. This preserves an explanation for the balance difference instead of hiding it in a manual match.
How the work is organized
- Dated balances. Read the provider’s ledger and available balances as of the snapshot date. Preserve the snapshot identifier. Comparing observations over time helps the reviewer choose the correct reconciliation period; adding snapshots together would misstate the account balance.
- Movement comparison. Compare the source event to a Confirmed application through the account instruction. Check account identity first, then the amount and confirmed date. Keep the provider event reference available so a repeated feed item can be recognized during review.
- Exception investigation. Use the Unmatched and Exception states to focus follow-up. Credit Officer can help locate the application’s confirmation evidence. Independent Credit Approver investigates the discrepancy without forcing a match merely to clear the queue.
What to agree during setup
Define the source of provider snapshots and movements, including how corrections are delivered. Agree the time zone used to interpret occurrence dates and how that relates to the application’s confirmation date. Test the provider feed with an event near a date boundary before relying on a daily reconciliation routine.
Choose the person responsible for contacting the provider when a movement differs from the application. Keep the original event and any correction attributable to their source. Review currency treatment before comparing US-dollar amounts with accounts held in another currency. The data model identifies the relevant account and application references for this handoff.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Use a confirmed $8,000 loan application and its provider movement on the same account and date. Independent Credit Approver should be able to match the movement and inspect the underlying confirmation. Retain the snapshot used for the comparison so Auditor can understand the balance observation that framed the review.
Next, supply a $7,950 movement with the same date, followed by an $8,000 movement on a different date. Neither is an exact match. Repeat the exact amount and date against another borrower’s account; that also remains unresolved. The exercise succeeds when the team can explain each difference and leave it visible without changing the original confirmation to make it fit.
