What you can do
Give an alert a reviewable context
A surveillance alert needs enough context for a person to decide what it means for the assessment. The AML Program Manager records the subject reference, detection time and provider alert identifier alongside the linked assessment. The risk score helps organize the review. The Independent Reviewer examines the evidence before approving or rejecting the submitted disposition.
Keep the alert’s organization aligned with the assessment it belongs to. This matters when the same provider serves several business units or compliance organizations. A familiar subject reference does not justify moving an alert into a different assessment without checking the intended context and the evidence that supports it.
How the work is organized
- Preparation. Draft alerts collect the provider reference and assessment context needed for review. The AML Program Manager checks the source information before submitting the alert. Arrange the surveillance-provider connection during setup if alerts will arrive from another system.
- Independent disposition. Submitted alerts wait for the Independent Reviewer. The reviewer assesses the evidence and records the decision time when approving or rejecting the disposition. A high score alone cannot establish wrongdoing or supply the decision.
- Completion and receipts. An approved disposition can move to Completed after the agreed work is finished. Keep the guarded action’s receipt correlated to the alert so an interrupted request can be investigated without creating a second disposition.
What to agree during setup
Agree which source owns the provider alert identifier, how it is matched during intake and how authorized staff reach the supporting evidence. Define the meaning of a completed disposition for your operating process. The provider’s score scale and the team’s decision responsibilities should be clear before the first alert enters review.
Set who prepares an alert and who reviews it independently. Decide how to handle an alert whose parent assessment is wrong or whose evidence is incomplete. Correct that context before submission, keeping the current alert revision visible to the reviewer throughout the handoff.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Use a pilot alert associated with an assessment of payment monitoring controls. The AML Program Manager checks the provider identifier and detection time, then submits the alert for review. The Independent Reviewer finds that the evidence supports rejecting the submitted disposition. Record the rejected outcome and decision time so the next colleague can see what happened.
Rehearse an approved example as well. Confirm that approval and completion are distinct steps and that retrying the same action can be reconciled to its original receipt. Compare the cases in the board without treating either risk score as a conclusion about the subject. The reviewer must be able to explain the decision from the recorded evidence.
What your team sees
- Monitoring Alert Inbox — Review submitted alerts with their assessment, provider reference and risk context.
- Monitoring Alert Board — Follow alerts from preparation through their recorded disposition.
- Operation Exceptions — Investigate an unresolved disposition action before retrying it.
Follow the work through
Follow alert submission to disposition and review connection setup before bringing in provider events.
