What you can do
Keep the operating record clear
A merchant prepares a themed group of collectible prints. The catalog identifies currency and region; each print has a title, category and saleable variant with a SKU and price. A draft listing is reviewed before its active status is used for buying. The variant carries the weight and shipping choice that the later order will need. A collection can bring related prints together for browsing.
Catalog Manager checks the catalog currency and status before moving a lot from draft to active. The variant SKU, price and active flag determine what can be selected later. Merchant Owner sets the catalog terms; Warehouse Operator can compare that SKU with its stock row when a shopper asks about availability.
How the work is organized
- Catalog. Keep each lot tied to the intended catalog and category; use the catalog status before exposing a listing.
- Variant. Check the SKU, price, shipping requirement and active flag on the variant a shopper will select.
- Publication. Review the draft listing, then use its active status to separate saleable lots from work in progress.
What to agree during setup
Agree which catalog owns each listing, who maintains category hierarchy and when a listing is ready to become active. Set a naming convention for handles and SK us before importing items. Check the active flag on variants and the catalog status together; a polished title alone is not a saleable item.
During the pilot, assign the exception owner and record the decision on the related order or catalog. Check the next handoff against the saved status, date and linked records before more staff start using the process.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Open a print in the draft list, inspect its catalog and category, then follow its variant and price. Move the listing to active under the Catalog Manager review. Confirm that the active list shows the intended print and that the Warehouse Operator can recognize the same SKU in stock.
Use the same case to rehearse access. Have the next owner explain the saved record, perform the permitted action and show the resulting status to the following owner. Correct a broken handoff before expanding the pilot.

Follow the work through
See the operating process for the connected handoff. Implementation gives the pilot sequence, and roles sets access before people start editing records.
