How a Automated Storage (AS/RS) rollout works
Rehearse location, quantity and independent-review handoffs before expanding automated storage work.
Agree the first operating scope
Select the organization, induction area and storage locations for the pilot. Identify the item and base unit, the people preparing work and the supervisor responsible for decisions.
Establish reference records
Configure membership, items and locations before importing lots, loads and handling units. Explain location eligibility and confirm the meaning of the request's counterparty location.
Prepare request review
Rehearse Draft preparation and Review, including an approved request and a returned decision. Verify current-revision checks and decide how corrected work is resubmitted.
Test stock holds
Use a lot with existing active reservations. Accept a hold within free quantity, reject a shortfall and release held stock when authorized scope changes.
Test robot and movement work
Have someone other than the creator decide the robot task. Execute the approved stock request, inspect its signed effect and repeat the action without duplicating the posting.
Verify exceptions and release
Reconcile matching and mismatched quantities, then reverse a posting through compensation. Agree ownership of failed receipts and controller evidence before widening the operating scope.
What the customer provides
Bring item and location lists, opening lot balances, existing holds and active team membership. Include a real induction plan and a handling unit whose custody is clear. Identify a supervisor who can independently review a task created by the clerk.
For a controller or warehouse-system connection, provide the responsible contact and agreed reference mapping through the approved setup process. Decide which system owns the quantity effect and how an event is inspected. Review the data model before importing historical evidence.
Changing it afterwards
Rehearse changes to base units, eligibility rules, review authority or quantity comparisons with both an accepted case and a refused case. Preserve original movements when correcting posted stock. A new controller mapping needs its own event and duplicate-request rehearsal before the team relies on it.
