Distribution storage teams
Distribution teams need a reliable handoff between arriving stock and the work authorized for storage. Automated Storage (AS/RS) connects the load plan and handling-unit context with stock requests, reservations and movement evidence. Inventory Clerk prepares the work; Inventory Supervisor reviews quantity and investigates exceptions before they become unexplained balances.
How Automated Storage (AS/RS) is set up for you
Induction context
Keep carrier and transfer identity beside sequenced slot times. Use the handling-unit code and custody owner to explain which tote or pallet is waiting for its next handoff.
Free-stock decisions
Compare on-hand quantity with active Held reservations before promising stock to another request. A failed reservation receipt gives the supervisor the shortfall to resolve.
Reviewed robot work
Submit the device-referenced task and obtain a decision from someone other than its creator. Check the parent request's movement evidence when the task is completed.

Begin with an induction location and an automated storage area whose operating team can inspect the same request end to end. Choose an arriving load and a handling unit with a clear item and base unit. Agree how both location references on the stock request describe the intended work.
Rehearse a valid reservation and a quantity that exceeds free stock. Have the clerk show the resulting hold or failed receipt, then ask the supervisor to explain the next action. Include an execution retry so the team sees that the same approved request must not increase stock twice.
Configure the robot-controller connection separately and agree the meaning of its event reference. Review [implementation](/automated-storage-asrs/implementation) before expanding to another location. The first operating cycle should make a missed slot, a review exception and a stock discrepancy distinguishable to the people handling them.
