Manufacturing component stores
A component store can have sufficient physical stock while existing reservations leave little free quantity for the next request. Automated Storage (AS/RS) gives the team lot balances, active holds and authorized stock requests to inspect together. Device-referenced task review adds a separate decision when automated handling is involved.
How Automated Storage (AS/RS) is set up for you
Item consistency
Agree the component SKU and base unit before importing quantities. The request, lot and movement must describe the same unit of stock for the resulting comparison to be meaningful.
Reservation discipline
Check eligible lots after existing active holds are deducted. Inventory Supervisor maintains allocation settings and resolves a shortfall instead of allowing another request to consume an already committed quantity.
Traceable correction
Release held stock when authorized scope changes. If a posted effect needs reversal, retain the original movement and add its linked compensation.

Choose a component family and storage locations whose clerk and supervisor can rehearse the full quantity trail. Use a lot with existing holds so the free-stock check has a real decision to make. Start with an ordinary stock request and a separate request that exceeds available free quantity.
Ask the supervisor to explain why the first request can proceed and why the second fails. Then rehearse the independent robot-task decision and inspect the stock posting separately. A Completed task should not obscure a mismatch between authorized units and posted movements.
Keep production planning and other external systems as separately configured connections. Agree their item references and quantity units before exchanging requests. Follow [eligible stock reservation](/automated-storage-asrs/processes/eligible-stock-reservation) for the hold and [correction and reversal](/automated-storage-asrs/processes/correction-and-reversal) for a changed instruction. Have the Auditor trace a corrected balance from the preserved postings.
