Manufacturing storerooms
Manufacturing storerooms need to know which component is in a bin, how its quantity is measured and what stock is already held for a request. The Inventory Clerk prepares the operating records, and the Inventory Supervisor reviews the authorized quantity. A named owner and required-by date help the team follow the work through execution.
How Bin / Location Management is set up for you
Item and unit clarity
Record the stock-keeping identity and base unit consistently. Resolve paperwork expressed in packs or other units before using its quantity in a stock request.
Reserve placement
Use the slotting plan's zone, priority and safety stock context to explain a proposed location. Review the required space against the capacity agreed for that plan.
Held stock visibility
Trace reservations to their request before committing the same lot again. Inspect a failed reservation's shortfall and agree the next action with the requesting team.
Correction evidence
Retain posted movements and their linked compensation when a quantity effect needs reversal. An Auditor can then explain why the current balance differs from an earlier request.

Choose a familiar component and a clearly identified storeroom bin. Confirm the base unit and opening lot quantity, then prepare an assigned request with the supporting document used in ordinary work. Rehearse a reservation and a change to the authorized quantity so staff can inspect the release of held stock.
Next, post an approved request and compare the signed movement with the lot balance. Reverse the rehearsal posting and verify that the compensation preserves the original evidence. Production scheduling and manufacturing orders remain with the connected production system; agree how it supplies request context. Use [posting and verification](/bin-location-management/processes/posting-and-verification) to define the quantity checks before extending the pilot to more components.
