Who it's for

Engineering-led manufacturers

Engineering-led production needs a clear explanation of why a structure changed and who agreed it could be used. BOM Management connects engineering change requests to a specific BOM revision and the people responsible for requesting and deciding it. The operating value is a visible request and reviewed structure, with the production team checking the instructions it actually uses. Use your engineering design source for drawings and agree how the planner hands revision instructions to the production team.

How BOM Management is set up for you

Named review responsibility

Name the person requesting the change and the person responsible for deciding it. Resolve both through the person's user account before configuring current-user views or engineering approval. A person's name on the request is insufficient evidence that approval occurred.

Dated structures

Enter effective start and effective end on the revision and review the interval during submission. Agree how competing windows are resolved. Review an order required near the change date with the planner and agree which assembly instructions its operator will use.

Released structure protection

The component guard blocks validation against a Released parent. Prepare a replacement on an editable revision, then use Manager's release decision. Retain the structure referenced by existing instructions while the new one is prepared.

Implementation follow-up

An Approved request remains distinct from Implemented. Production Planner checks the resulting structure and any affected work before recording application through the action. A running order needs a separate instruction review.

Rehearse an example assembly change from request to release with the person who maintains engineering instructions and the planner who hands work to production. Include a rejected request and a valid replacement with a changed effective window. Decide where drawings and inspection evidence remain authoritative, and configure those connections only when the business requires them.
