What you can do

Run this work from a source record

Cash Specialist begins with a receipt bearing the provider event identity, received time, partner, amount and verification value. The event identity distinguishes a repeated notice from new money. The partner should match the posted document’s counterparty before anyone records an application. Controller compares the total applied with the document’s gross amount and examines reversal dates on earlier applications.

For an owner payment, Cash Specialist verifies the event against its source and links the receipt to the intended posted invoice. Record the amount actually applied and its date, even if the receipt is larger than this invoice. If verification is No or the provider event identity was already used, leave the application for investigation. Controller traces the receipt through each application and checks any reversal.

How the work is organized

  • Prepare the source. Enter the provider event identity, partner, received amount and date and keep the related record available to the next owner.
  • Make the decision. Check that the receipt is verified and the document was posted. Record the named decision on the revision under review.
  • Follow the result. Keep the next accounting action tied to its source rather than treating a status label as the whole history.

The first pass should use an actual billing or cost case that the team recognizes. Choose one organization and one counterparty, then follow the record to the point where a reviewer or controller must act. Read the linked lines and evidence before changing status. If a figure differs from its support, send the record back with a reason and let the owner correct that same business case.

What to agree during setup

Agree who supplies receipt evidence and who marks a receipt verified. Cash Specialist should compare the event identity, amount, partner and received date with that source. Decide how a partial application is recorded and who reviews a reversal. Controller should reconcile applications against the posted document, rather than assuming the receipt amount equals a single invoice.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Record one verified owner receipt, then apply only the amount intended for a posted invoice. Check the receipt and document links and the application date. Try the same event identity again and leave that case for investigation. Also try a receipt still marked No; it should remain outside the application work until Cash Specialist verifies the evidence.

What your team sees

  • Verified cash receipts — Cash Specialist sees receipts marked Yes and checks their event identity before application.
  • Posted documents — Controller compares the posted amount, counterparty and application history.

Follow the work through

Start with document review, follow certified billing, and use journal posting or cash settlement for the resulting accounting work.
