What you can do
Make the equipment value explainable
The Quote Specialist enters the product code and quantity for each equipment line. Unit price, line discount and unit cost are expressed in USD. The pricing action multiplies quantity by unit price, subtracts the line discount and writes the net line amount. The parent quote total is the sum of those net amounts.
This matters when a dealer revises a kitchen package after a site discussion. An oven quantity may change while the agreed discount stays a fixed amount. The reviewer needs to see that distinction before approving the revised offer. Recording the price book revision gives the team a reference for the pricing basis used on the quote.
How the work is organized
- Equipment lines. Line numbers keep the equipment list readable. Product codes identify the offered items, while quantities and USD values explain how each line contributes to the commercial total.
- Controlled calculation. Pricing operates on an explicit draft and expected revision. Organization scope, draft state, price book revision and line values are checked before the result is accepted for review.
- Reviewable totals. Net line amounts roll into the quote’s net amount. The Pricing Reviewer can compare the equipment detail with the total and investigate a discount or cost entry before making a decision.
What to agree during setup
Confirm that the line discount is an amount applied after quantity times unit price. If staff usually talk in percentages, they still need a consistent method for entering the discount amount used here. Decide who provides the unit cost and who corrects an incomplete product code before review.
Agree how the dealer identifies a price book revision. A quote must preserve the pricing reference used for its equipment list, especially when the commercial discussion lasts beyond a price change. Keep the organization’s currency setting separate from the USD amounts used in equipment pricing. Any broader currency treatment needs its own agreed setup and verification.
Check the handoff on an actual case
In a rehearsal, enter two identical appliances at a unit price of USD 1,000 with a line discount of USD 100. The expected net amount for that line is USD 1,900. Add another equipment line, calculate the quote and compare the displayed total with a manual sum. These are test values for checking the arithmetic.
Ask the Pricing Reviewer to explain the price and discount from the saved revision. Next, repeat the pricing request with an old expected revision after a quantity change. It must fail without overwriting the newer work. Try a request against an approved quote as well; the pricing action should require draft state. Investigate any disagreement between line totals and the parent amount before requesting approval.
