What you can do
Give the reviewer a reproducible price
Quote Specialist prepares the Draft quote with its customer, owner, validity date and price-book revision. Device lines carry the product code, quantity, unit price and discount, along with unit cost and the computed net line amount. Each line belongs to a particular quote, keeping the commercial calculation with the offer being discussed.
Pricing uses quantity multiplied by unit price in USD, less the line’s discount in USD. The priced lines sum to the quote’s net amount. The request identifies the expected revision so that a reviewer does not unknowingly decide a price built from a different set of inputs.
How the work is organized
- Draft ownership. Quote Specialist prepares the assigned quote and confirms its customer and organization. A clear subject and record number help the team distinguish a new offer from a correction to an existing one.
- Line preparation. The specialist checks each product code, quantity and USD amount. The discount is a line amount deducted after the quantity and unit price calculation, so the reviewer can reproduce the arithmetic.
- Pricing submission. The guarded pricing action checks the Draft state, organization scope, expected revision, price-book revision and line values. It writes the calculated line and quote amounts and moves eligible work to Review.
What to agree during setup
Agree who supplies the price-book revision and how the sales team checks that it is current for the request. Decide how product codes identify the offered device and how unit costs are maintained for the commercial review. Keep the source of the price and the revision used in the offer understandable to another reviewer.
Set a correction practice before the first quote enters Review. A changed quantity or discount needs to return through the appropriate draft and pricing path. Explain the validity date to the team and use the same organization time convention when determining whether the offer can still proceed to acceptance.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Use an illustrative rehearsal line with a quantity of 3, a USD unit price of 2,400 and a USD line discount of 200. The line calculation produces 7,000. Quote Specialist checks those inputs and sends the explicit Draft quote revision for pricing. Pricing Reviewer compares the result with the line evidence before deciding the offer.
Then change the quantity in a separate rehearsal request while retaining the earlier expected revision. Confirm that stale input cannot silently replace the price being reviewed. Also test a pricing request against a quote that has already left Draft. The team should resolve the lifecycle or revision conflict before continuing, with the original decision evidence still available for inspection.
