AI agent

Ask about the proposal in front of you

Ask for quote, design and receipt context while keeping commercial decisions with the responsible people.

It can

  • Quote Specialist: Show my Draft proposals with their current revision, validity date and price-book reference before I request pricing.
  • Pricing Reviewer: Gather the priced lines and attached site scope for the quote revision I am reviewing.
  • App Administrator: Help check the customer organization and team-member mapping when a scoped request is refused.
  • Auditor: Find Pending or failed handoffs and compare their claims with quote decisions and effect references.

Stays with a person

  • Pricing Reviewer remains responsible for independent approval.
  • Quote Specialist must confirm the customer's acceptance and the scope it applies to.
  • The assistant needs authorized access and configured actions; its requests must pass the same organization, revision and validity checks used by the team.
  • Real downstream outcomes come from the connected receiving system.

Implementation

Roll out one team at a time

Start with one team and one process, then add the rest once the basics are running.

  1. Choose the pilot offer

Select a familiar solar proposal with a clear site address and pricing basis. Name its Quote Specialist and independent Pricing Reviewer.

  2. Prepare the selling scope

App Administrator establishes the organization, eligible customer and team membership. Admin verifies account links and the intended access boundaries.

  3. Agree the design procedure

Define who prepares site inputs, what the required-by date means and which document supports panel count and design capacity. Rehearse submission and the independent design decision.

  4. Configure commercial actions

Confirm line calculation rules, quote and price-book revision checks, validity handling and decision outcomes. Test pricing and approval with the actual specialist and reviewer accounts.

  5. Connect accepted work

Configure the downstream order destination and map the accepted quote and lines. Test a successful acknowledgement, a repeated request and the disconnected case.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Scope, rollout and pricing for CPQ for Solar & Renewable Energy.

All questions
How do I get started?

Click Get started, then use Proto to configure CPQ for Solar & Renewable Energy for your business. Start with a selling organization, an eligible customer and a familiar solar proposal. Rehearse the site input, quote calculation, independent review and accepted handoff with the people who will run them.

What solar design information can the team record?

The design input keeps the site address, required-by date, panel count and design capacity with its quote and organization. It carries a status and revision so the team can identify the scope under review. Supporting files belong with the quote.

How are line amounts calculated?

Each USD net line amount equals quantity multiplied by unit price, less the USD line discount. The quote's net amount is the sum of those priced lines. The pricing action checks the expected quote and price-book revisions before committing the calculation.

Who approves the commercial quote?

Pricing Reviewer independently approves, rejects or returns the current quote revision and records a reason. The review action checks independence and revision validity. Administrative maintenance does not give App Administrator business approval authority.

What happens when the quote changes during review?

The expected revision check prevents an older request from authorizing a changed proposal. Quote Specialist follows the agreed correction procedure and presents the current scope for pricing and review before the team relies on a new approval.

How is customer acceptance recorded?

Quote Specialist confirms the customer's decision and submits acceptance for the approved revision. The action checks expiry and the expected revision before recording Accepted and the acceptance time. Keep the supporting customer evidence with the quote.

Does design approval change the quote price?

Set up the design input's review and completion procedure during configuration. Keep the parent quote's amount and commercial state unchanged by design approval. Send intended commercial changes through the quote pricing and approval process.

What is needed for an order handoff?

Configure the downstream receiving connection and agree how the accepted quote and lines map to it. The operation receipt retains the real external reference. Without that connection, the handoff remains Pending until an actual receiving outcome can be established.

How do we correct accepted scope?

Use the authorized correction procedure. Executed Accepted scope requires a reviewer-approved compensating action that retains the original evidence. Rehearse the business and downstream effects before handling a live customer change.

What should we verify before live use?

Check organization boundaries, owner-to-user mapping and independent review with the real accounts. Test stale revisions, expired acceptance and repeated handoffs. Reconcile the accepted quote with its decision evidence and the actual receiving-system reference.
