What you can do
The work in this module
Relationship activities give a sales conversation its working history. Each activity has a subject, type, status, revision and line number, with an optional due date, completion date and outcome. It belongs to an opportunity and can have an owner. A qualification action creates an activity; submitting a proposal logs the proposal email. Owners can also add their own calls, meetings and tasks to keep the next action visible.
A relationship activity belongs to an opportunity and has a type, subject and status. Open work can carry a due date and owner; completed work can carry an outcome and completion date. Qualification and proposal submission add activities through their workflows, while owners can record calls, meetings and tasks for subsequent contact.
How the work is organized
- Ownership. The named owner keeps the next action current and is responsible for resolving stale work.
- Context. Related records keep the customer, opportunity and organization together so the team can inspect the case before acting.
- Evidence. A date, outcome, decision or receipt helps a colleague understand what actually happened.
What to agree during setup
Agree how owners name activities and when a task is Completed or Cancelled. Decide whether overdue open work is reviewed daily or weekly. Keep the subject specific enough to explain the action without putting sensitive notes into a short label.
Pilot an Open call and a Completed email activity on the same opportunity. The Sales Owner should agree with the Sales Manager when to cancel a task and how to record an outcome. Compare each due date with the opportunity next step so the working queue points to an actual action.
Check the handoff on an actual case
A Sales Owner schedules a call after the buyer asks for a revised quantity. The owner puts the due date on an Open activity and records the result when the call is Completed. The manager reads the activity alongside the opportunity next step and checks the operation receipt for the qualification or proposal transition. If the call is cancelled, the activity keeps that outcome rather than vanishing from the history.
Before handoff, the next Sales Owner should know which activity is still Open and what resulted from the last completed contact. Check the status and outcome on the activity itself, then read the opportunity next step. A workflow receipt supports a stage change; it does not replace the conversation record.
