What you can do

Leave a useful account of the conversation

A Relationship Owner needs more than a stage label when returning to a consumer conversation. Activity entries record the call, meeting, email or task against the opportunity, with its outcome and relevant dates. The next person reading the relationship can understand what the customer said and what the owner expects to do next.

Activities also support later decisions. Qualification and customer closure use activity evidence, so an entry should explain the observation that matters. A brief note saying “called” gives the Sales Manager little basis for review. An outcome describing the household’s requirement, decision or unresolved question gives the review conversation a concrete starting point.

How the work is organized

  • Conversation type. Choose Call, Meeting, Email or Task so the team can distinguish the kind of interaction being recorded. Use the outcome to capture its substance, including the customer’s response or the work completed by the owner.
  • Follow-up timing. Record the due date for an activity that needs attention and its completion date when the work is done. Check those dates together during pipeline review so a previously completed activity is not mistaken for an outstanding commitment.
  • Opportunity context. Keep the entry attached to the intended opportunity. Activity logging assigns the next line number and current revision, allowing the reviewer to place the evidence in the relationship’s history before assessing a proposed transition.

What to agree during setup

Agree how much detail belongs in an activity outcome and when supporting documents should be attached to the opportunity. Use actual customer conversations to establish a practical standard. Owners should record enough context for independent review while keeping personal information relevant to the operating purpose.

Decide how the team uses due and completion dates. Choose the local working convention for recording activities across organizations with different time zones. Email delivery, inbox capture and calendar connections can be configured separately if those systems should supply context. Begin with an activity that the owner enters and the Sales Manager can verify during the pilot.

Check the handoff on an actual case

After a consultation call with the Rivera household, the Relationship Owner logs a Call with a clear outcome: the household wants to review the proposed service before deciding. The owner records the next follow-up timing and links the activity to the correct opportunity. The Sales Manager reads the entry when reviewing qualification or proposal readiness.

Record the follow-up as completed when it happens, then inspect the activity sequence. The owner should be able to explain which conversation supports the next decision. Rehearse an empty outcome and confirm it cannot be submitted through activity logging. After the opportunity closes, use the governed correction process for changes that require review rather than adding ordinary activity to a closed relationship.

What your team sees

  • Activity Follow-up — Activities whose due date has arrived, with completion date and outcome available for checking the next action.
  • My Relationships — The owner’s assigned opportunities, providing the context for each follow-up conversation.

Follow the work through

Use qualification and proposal review to see how activity evidence supports progress, and correction and reconciliation for a governed change.
