What you can do

Make the proposed commercial scope understandable

The Account Manager adds product lines to the opportunity so the team can see what the customer is considering. Each line carries an item name, quantity and USD unit price, with an optional discount percentage and product reference. The interest type distinguishes the kind of commercial item being discussed.

The product catalog holds a recognizable SKU, list price and category. Linking a line to a product helps identify the item, while the line’s own commercial values explain the current conversation. The opportunity retains its expected value separately, so the Account Manager checks how the line detail supports that stated value.

How the work is organized

  • Maintain recognizable products. Admin keeps the product name, SKU, category and active state current. The Account Manager checks the chosen product when preparing a line rather than relying on an item description copied from an earlier conversation.
  • Describe the proposal lines. Enter quantity, unit price and discount percentage with the appropriate interest type. Keep the line number meaningful when discussing a specific item with the customer or another team member.
  • Record proposal activity. Use Submit Proposal to log the proposal email activity and advance the opportunity to Proposal. Keep the supporting document or reference with the deal so the commercial content can be found later.

What to agree during setup

Agree who maintains catalog prices and how the Account Manager records a different commercial unit price on an opportunity. Decide how discounts are explained and how the team compares the opportunity value with the lines. A catalog list price and the amount on a current deal serve different purposes.

Choose the email process used to deliver the actual customer proposal. The recorded email activity helps explain the relationship history; delivery confirmation should come from that communication process. Decide which proposal document or link is retained and who is responsible for keeping the referenced material accessible to authorized colleagues.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Prepare a pilot opportunity with a device line and a related service line from the catalog. The Account Manager checks their product references, enters the discussed quantities and prices, and records the discount percentage where relevant. Compare those details with the stated expected opportunity value under the team’s commercial procedure.

Run Submit Proposal and inspect the proposal email activity and operation receipt. Locate the supporting proposal document through its retained reference. Then revise a line during the rehearsal and have another Account Manager identify which commercial content should be discussed next. Keep the current line detail and communication evidence understandable without treating an activity log as proof that the customer received an email.

What your team sees

  • Proposal Line Detail — Lines with an assigned interest type, showing product references, quantities and prices.
  • Product Catalog — Products with an assigned category, showing names, SK us and list prices for commercial preparation.
  • Open Pipeline — The opportunity’s stage and next step beside its stated expected value.

Follow the work through

Rehearse account to proposal, then follow close outcome and handoff when the customer makes a commercial decision.
