What you can do

Keep the next conversation visible

A relationship activity is a call, meeting, email or task connected to an opportunity. It has a subject, owner, due date, completion date, outcome and status. Those details let the Account Owner plan a follow-up and let the Sales Lead see whether the next customer conversation happened. An activity attached to the right opportunity makes the customer history easier to review than a loose reminder in someone’s personal calendar.

The qualification workflow logs a qualification activity; proposal submission logs an email activity. Other relationship activities can carry the team’s planned calls and meetings. They can be Open, Completed or Cancelled. A due date puts an unfinished follow-up in view, while a completed date and outcome explain what actually happened. Pipeline Command includes an overdue follow-up queue, so dated work can be reviewed alongside open pipeline value.

How the work is organized

  • Plan the touchpoint. Name the subject, activity type, due date and opportunity before assigning it.
  • Complete the record. Set the completion date and outcome after the customer conversation.
  • Review outstanding work. Use the due list to decide whether a deal’s next step is credible.

What to agree during setup

Agree how the team uses Call, Meeting, Email and Task. A proposal email should be recognizable as a proposal submission, while an ordinary follow-up email can be an activity without changing the opportunity stage. Decide who owns a task when one person manages the school relationship and another prepares tutoring delivery. The owner reference points to a Team Member; keep that assignment current so individual worklists remain useful.

Decide how to handle an overdue activity in the weekly review. The due date says when someone intended to act; it does not say whether a customer replied. The Account Owner should record the outcome and completion date before closing the activity. If the customer meeting is cancelled, mark the activity Cancelled and create a new dated task when a new conversation is needed. This keeps completed work distinguishable from work that never took place.

Check the handoff on an actual case

After sending a tutoring proposal to a school coordinator, the Account Owner creates a call due next week. The activity points to the proposal opportunity and names the owner. When the date arrives, the owner records that the coordinator requested a change to the session scope, enters the outcome and completes the call. The Sales Lead can review the completed activity before discussing the revised offer. If the call never occurs, the open due item remains visible in the follow-up queue and can be reassigned or rescheduled deliberately.

What your team sees

  • Follow-ups Due — Dated activities that need attention, with status and opportunity beside each one.
  • My Activities — The Account Owner’s assigned calls, meetings, emails and tasks.
