Crop loss assessment
Record farm observations and submit them into claim work. Loss Assessor records the farm, survey reference and assessed loss under a policy. What you can do
Crop loss assessment in practice
A crop loss assessment belongs to a policy and organization. It can hold farm, assessed date, assessed loss amount and survey reference. The assessor starts in Draft and submits the record after checking the policy and evidence. The revision gives reviewers a version to discuss when observations change.
Submission is operationally significant. The assessment workflow advances a claim belonging to that policy to Assessment and writes an operation receipt under the policy. The assessor and claims reviewer need to identify the relevant claim when more than one claim shares a policy. A later assessment decision is recorded on the assessment itself; it should be read alongside the claim decision rather than treated as the same record.
How the work is organized
- Identify the policy. Match the farm assessment to the policy and organization.
- Submit observations. Record the survey reference, assessment date and assessed loss.
- Check the affected claim. Read the resulting claim status and policy operation receipt.
What to agree during setup
Agree how the assessor identifies the intended claim when a policy has several reported losses. The assessment links to the policy, so the team must check the claim affected by submission. Decide who records an assessment decision and who compares the assessed amount with the claimed amount. Rehearse a second claim under the same policy before relying on the handoff.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Start with a reported claim and an assessment for the same policy. Enter the farm, survey reference and assessed loss, then submit the assessment. Check that the intended claim has advanced to Assessment and that an operation receipt sits under the policy. Review the claim loss evidence against the assessment before moving the claim into Review.
The Claims Reviewer should see the submitted assessment and the claim that moved to Assessment. If the wrong claim moved, keep the operation receipt with the policy while resolving the case. The assessment decision and claim benefit decision serve different purposes; the next owner should read each record before changing the claim.
