How a Database Administration rollout works
Set up the inventory and rehearse the decisions before the first cycle.
Establish ownership
Add users, people and services with clear owners and criticality.
Map databases
Connect assets to services and database instances to assets and people.
Review evidence
Record a representative backup run and check its database, outcome and restore-test date.
Rehearse service work
Open an incident, review a change and approve a submitted request with the people who will own those decisions.
Connect sources
Bring external events and operational signals into the corresponding records and inspect failed receipts.
What the customer provides
Provide the database names, engines, versions, host assets, service owners and current operators. Bring recent backup run details and the operational evidence used for restore tests. Identify who responds to incidents, approves changes and approves service requests. For event connections, supply provider event identity and the expected result of processing.
Changing it afterwards
When a database moves, update its host asset link and inspect the service context. When an owner changes, update the relevant person reference so new work reaches the right person. Review planned change windows and rollback plans again when the scope changes. Use the data model to plan migrations and roles to rehearse access.
