Connections to set up

Agree external source identities and confirmations before enabling operational feeds.

  • Automotive ERP
  • Customer order feeds
  • Supplier exchange
  • Carrier tracking
  • Shop floor devices
  • Bank payment confirmation
  • Group accounting

Systems to connect

  • Customer order feeds. EDI or a customer ordering system can supply customer and vendor contacts, customer orders and customer order lines after mapping customer identity, product and requested dates. Define duplicate intake and approval handling; an imported order must not bypass the Approved demand prerequisite.
  • Supplier exchange. Connect the agreed purchase-order transport and supplier invoice intake to purchase orders, goods receipts and supplier invoices. Retain source identity and replay handling. Agree the transport and supplier acknowledgment during connection setup.
  • Carrier tracking. Keep the carrier’s shipment reference on the delivery. A transport acknowledgment must not rerun Shipment inventory effects or create another eligible invoice.
  • Shop floor devices. Scanner or machine feeds need an explicit mapping to stock movements or production reporting, with the permitted actor and unit checked. Agree the device protocol and repeated-event checks during connection setup.
  • Bank payment confirmation. Match the bank confirmation to the supplier payment and its payment run, retaining the bank reference. Define rejection, returned payment and duplicate-response handling before allowing Paid outcomes. Set up warranty payout confirmation separately and name the person who checks the returned evidence.
  • Group accounting. If a separate group ledger remains authoritative, agree how journal entries and their lines are exported by source identity and open period. Reconcile accepted postings and corrections. Agree the export owner and reconciliation point before the first period-end transfer.

How connections are governed

Name the owner for each feed and agree a source-to-record mapping, credential identity, confirmation requirement and correction rule. Use the same authorization checks as manual actions. Keep failed or conflicting events visible for review rather than changing a successful record to hide a duplicate.

Test a repeated source event and a conflicting replay before accepting the connection. Receiving, completion, shipment and journal effects must retain their once-only identities. A connection is ready only when its acknowledged outcomes and denied actions are observed; a locally changed status is insufficient proof of external delivery or payment.

Rehearse purchasing and shipment.
