How a Shipbuilding ERP rollout works
Set up one entity and operating cycle, then expand with reconciled evidence.
Choose the operating scope
Name the legal entity, warehouse, initial products, customer, supplier and responsible people.
Prepare controls
Review product units, prices, costs, tax codes, payment terms, approval authority and posting profiles.
Reconcile opening position
Import remaining stock and open financial balances at one cutoff and compare them to the opening journal.
Rehearse actual work
Run a purchase with a partial receipt, a customer order with partial delivery, an assembly completion and the related invoice and cash events.
Release by responsibility
Check each role's permitted records and independent decisions before the next entity or warehouse joins.
What the customer provides
Provide the trading entities, currencies, warehouses, locations, product units, current customer and supplier identities, open commitments and opening balances. Supply a real approval matrix and protected bank destination process. Identify where actual bank and carrier evidence will come from. Finance Manager should sign off the reconciled cutoff; Warehouse Manager should confirm stock identity and location mapping.
Changing it afterwards
Use a reviewed master change for a new price, unit, cost, policy or account mapping. Preserve accepted transaction versions and posted history. A changed warehouse process can start with one product and location, then expand after the first transfer, count and shipment reconcile. See data model and roles.
