What you can do

Keep the work connected

Assessment Tester raises a finding from a failed or inconclusive test. The finding records severity, date, description, assessment, control and state. Remediation Owner records a corrective action with due date, target completion date, evidence and owner. Planned, in progress and Submitted show progress. Verified requires an independent passing retest; an owner status update cannot close the finding.

The finding tells the team what failed. The corrective action describes the response and its due date. The retest supplies the separate judgment needed before closure.

How the work is organized

  • Ownership. The named person on a record is responsible for its next operational step.
  • Working state. The recorded state tells colleagues whether preparation, review or follow-up is due.
  • Evidence trail. Related records remain attached to the assessment or control that explains them.

What to agree during setup

Agree what each severity means and what evidence a corrective action requires. Set the target completion date when planning the action, then check it against the evidence at submission. Choose a reviewer who does not own the corrective action. Define how a failed or inconclusive retest returns to work while keeping the finding open.

In the pilot, choose a real operating period and a small set of named people. Check their membership and duties before entering historical material. Review who may see Internal evidence and who makes the independent decision. Agree how corrections are explained so the next reviewer can follow the record without relying on a private conversation.

Check the handoff on an actual case

A failed access review test shows that a former consultant retained access. Assessment Tester opens a High finding tied to the assessment and control. Remediation Owner changes the removal process and submits evidence. Independent Reviewer checks a later sample. A Pass can verify the action and close the finding; Fail or Inconclusive leaves it open. Rehearse self-review and reject that reviewer before any closure occurs.

Have the receiving role open the record rather than relying on a summary sent outside the app. Check the selected organization, owner, dates and links to related work. If the case is returned, record a reason and leave the next action visible. This rehearsal should expose unclear authority before the team uses the same pattern across more engagements.

What your team sees

  • Unresolved Findings — Find open, action-planned and retest findings by severity and control.
  • Remediation in Flight — Review action owners, due dates and submitted evidence before retest.

Follow the work through

Follow the related process and use roles to check the handoff between people.
