How a Healthcare Analytics rollout works

Start with one outcome measure your quality team already reports and can reconcile.

  1. Agree the operating boundary

The app runs outcome measurement from an approved metric definition to a published outcome rate and its follow-up actions. Identifiable patient data, deidentification, clinical source systems and external reporting destinations stay outside it and are connections to set up. The organization decides which outcomes it measures and what each count field records; Proto prepares configuration and information for review.

  2. Set up roles and people

Create the roles, match People to signed-in users by email and scope each person to their organizations before any review decision is recorded.

  3. Map the source data

Record outcome and metric definitions with their versions, the source mappings they depend on, and the snapshot each cohort will draw on. Agree what patient count, session count, conversion count, target completions and cohort exposure hold for each measure.

  4. Rehearse the workflows

Run cohort construction, calculation and reconciliation, outcome-rate publication and correction on a branch, and rehearse each before release.

  5. Configure a bounded pilot

Pilot one outcome measure for one organization across a few monthly windows. Build, review and publish each cohort, and reconcile the published rates with the figures the team already reports.

  6. Rehearse the exceptions

A cohort Owner must not approve their own revision. A definition's author must not approve their own draft. A repeated start with the same operation key must return the existing run. A publication run must not succeed before its read-back. A zero denominator must produce a suppressed result with a reason.

  7. Reconcile and release

Compare snapshot record counts, accepted facts and published rates with the source. Obtain acceptance from the Metric Steward and Clinical Reviewer, keep an export of the source, and agree the rollback window before release.

What the customer provides

  • The measure specifications you report, with inclusion rules, numerator, denominator, grain and period.
  • Deidentified extracts from your source systems, with stable source references and the consent basis for each.
  • The organizations, people and reviewers who will use the app, with their email addresses.
  • Previously published rates for the pilot measure, to reconcile against.
  • Your suppression rules and the evidence a reviewer expects to see.

Changing it afterwards

Use Proto to prepare changes on a branch. Review changed fields, workflows, permissions, source mappings and reports with their owners. Replay the pilot’s exception cases before release. A changed metric definition is a new version; published results keep the version that produced them.
