What you can do

Follow the assignment from submission to active work

A clinical assignment connects an employee to an organization, facility code and privilege scope. The credentialing team records the license type, issuing authority, source reference and expiry date. Review happens against a specific revision so a later change does not silently inherit an earlier decision. The HRMS for Healthcare Overview brings assignment status, expiry timing and open follow-up work together for the team.

A submitted assignment is a request to examine the evidence. It is not a permission to practice. A reviewer records a decision, and the team can then move the assignment through verified, assigned and active states. When the credential expires, the expired status and follow-up action keep the renewal work visible.

How the work is organized

  • Assignment owner. The named owner keeps the facility, privilege scope and clinician relationship current.
  • Source evidence. Verification items record observed dates, outcomes and source references; documents retain the attachment and verifying person.
  • Independent decision. The reviewer records the assignment revision, decision, reason and evidence reference before staff act on the result.

The credential evidence queue brings pending observations and their source references to the reviewer. The assignment record shows the current clinician, facility and status. A follow-up action is assigned to a person with a due date and a resolution when the evidence is ready.

What to agree during setup

Choose who may prepare an assignment, who may review it and who may mark it active. Set the organization, professional license definitions and local meaning of facility codes and privilege scopes. Decide which primary sources supply verification evidence and how their references will be recorded. Define when an expiring record enters the review queue and who owns each follow-up.

Keep the exact revision with each decision. If an issuer, expiry date or privilege scope changes after approval, the next reviewer should see the changed basis before the assignment advances again.

Check the handoff on an actual case

A nurse’s assignment is submitted for a facility with a recorded privilege scope. The specialist attaches a license document and records the issuer, observed date, source reference and expiry date. One verification is pending, so the specialist opens a follow-up for the missing response. The reviewer can see the pending item and returns the decision with a reason. Once the source response arrives, the specialist updates the evidence. The reviewer records a new decision for the current revision; the specialist then assigns the clinician and HR confirms the active record.

Rehearse a second case in which the expiry date passes while the assignment is active. Confirm that the assignment appears in the expiry work and that the follow-up remains assigned until resolved.

What your team sees

  • Assignments awaiting review — Submitted clinician assignments with facility, scope, expiry and revision in one queue.
  • Credential evidence queue — Pending observations and their source references for the reviewer.
  • My follow-up actions — Due work assigned to the person closing a credential gap.
