Catering preparation teams
Catering teams need to distinguish stock physically in storage from ingredients already promised to preparation work. Kitchen Inventory Management uses stock requests' required date and requested units to explain demand, then links stock reservations to the selected lot. Operations Overview helps the team find late requests alongside failed operation results and escalated reviews.
How Kitchen Inventory Management is set up for you
Make demand identifiable
Inventory Clerk gives each stock request record a meaningful subject, item, owner and location. Use the catering plan to supply the demand context, then prepare the stock request with the actual ingredient and required quantity.
Reserve within free stock
The reservation action subtracts active held quantities from lot on-hand inventory before accepting another hold. Preserve the request-and-lot operation key so a repeated preparation request does not claim the same stock again.
Retain the handling trail
Kitchen containers record container code, quantity, custodian and location when ingredients move into preparation. Confirm the related signed stock effect separately; a tote recorded as In Prep is not evidence of automated ingredient consumption.
Resolve changed demand
Inventory Supervisor corrects authorized quantity or cancels the request through the published action. Check that held reservations become Released. Use reversal for wrong posted effects and keep the earlier request and decision evidence available to Auditor.

Choose a preparation cycle with an agreed ingredient list and real storage locations. Import item codes and lot evidence in the [data-model order](/kitchen-inventory-management/data-model), then prepare requests with realistic deadlines. Rehearse a successful hold, an excessive hold and a cancelled task before extending the operating procedure.
Inventory Supervisor should review channel priorities in par-level policies and explain how the team applies the par rule. Keep catering job identity and purchasing approval in their connected systems. Compare the actual held stock and signed movements with the preparation requirement before confirming that the team has the ingredients it needs. Reconcile each pilot request with stock movements and operation receipts before relying on its completion.
