What you can do
Review the artwork intended for this market
A label review starts with an identifiable file. Inspector records the SKU, destination market and revision, attaches the artwork and links it to the inspection. Quality Approver can then review the version intended for that specific job without relying on a filename remembered from an email.
Consider a cereal carton with separate English and French artwork. The product code may be the same, but the market and revision identify the file under consideration. A language correction on the French carton should lead the team back to that artwork and its linked checks. It should not be treated as evidence that the English carton has changed.
How the work is organized
- Revision identity. Keep the SKU, market and version together. Inspector confirms the attachment opens and belongs to the selected inspection before submitting it for review.
- Review state. Draft identifies preparation work. The legal review state identifies artwork awaiting the agreed content decision. Quality Approver coordinates that decision before the revision is marked Approved.
- Operational context. The inspection link connects the revision to the work being examined. Label checks stay attached to the specific artwork so a reviewer can follow the evidence without guessing which file was checked.
What to agree during setup
Agree how your team names revisions and markets. A revision such as C must mean the same thing to the artwork preparer and the Inspector. Decide who supplies the authoritative artwork file and where market-specific legal advice comes from. Treat a connection to a design tool as a separate setup task.
Quality Approver should agree when an older approved revision becomes Obsolete and how staff choose the revision for a new inspection. Retain the older artwork for questions about prior checks. Approval of a revised label needs its own review; the earlier file’s result cannot answer whether the revised ingredients or language are correct.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Use a carton whose ingredient statement has changed. Inspector selects the related inspection, submits the revised attachment and confirms the SKU, market and revision. Quality Approver opens that same attachment before moving the artwork through review. The team then follows the artwork into its label checks and verifies that the ingredients evidence belongs to this version.
Repeat the rehearsal with the wrong inspection selected and with an unreadable attachment. Resolve those problems before asking anyone to approve the revision. Once the replacement is agreed, review how the previous artwork is identified as Obsolete while its inspection history remains understandable. The useful outcome is a reviewer who can explain exactly which file supported the decision.
What your team sees
- Artwork Revision Board — Revisions grouped by review state, with SKU and market visible beside the inspection link.
- Draft Artwork — Artwork still being prepared before the review handoff.
