What you can do

Make the check specific enough to review

Label verification records the question examined and the evidence used to answer it. Inspector or Quality Approver selects the artwork and the check type, records the result and attaches supporting evidence. The reviewer remains associated with the check so the next person knows whose work they are considering.

The available check types cover Allergen, Ingredients, Barcode, Claims and Language. A barcode check can pass while a language check fails on the same carton. Keep those results separate. Passing a barcode test does not settle whether the translated warning says what the market requires.

How the work is organized

  • Artwork context. Start from the revision being checked. Confirm the market and attached file before recording an observation about its contents.
  • Check outcome. Pending means the result has not been settled. Pass and Fail retain distinct meanings, allowing the reviewer to focus on the exact concern instead of a general statement that the label was checked.
  • Attributed evidence. Record who reviewed the label and the supporting attachment. A correction adds successor evidence while retaining the submitted evidence that explains the earlier result.

What to agree during setup

Quality Approver defines the check plan for the chosen packaging scope. Agree which requirements need specialist input, how that input reaches the reviewer and what makes an attachment useful. For a barcode check, the team might attach its test output; for a language check, it might attach the reviewed text. The evidence must identify the actual revision being examined.

Agree how staff distinguish a corrected submission from a new artwork revision. Correcting evidence for the same file and replacing the artwork are different events. If the file changes, return to the artwork review and determine which checks need to be performed on the replacement. Keep claims of legal acceptance tied to the people authorized to make them.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Take a package with an allergen statement awaiting correction. Inspector records the allergen check as Fail with the marked artwork attached. Quality Approver can see the failed result next to its reviewer and follow the link to the exact artwork. A separate barcode check may remain Pass because it addresses a different requirement.

If the allergen statement changes, record the replacement as a new artwork revision and check that file. Keep the original failed check attached to the earlier artwork. If only the supporting evidence needs correction, use the agreed correction route and retain the earlier submission alongside its attributed successor. Then inspect the related inspection requirements before requesting disposition. Label verification supports an internal quality decision; the team still uses its designated legal advisers for regulatory interpretation and its production process for release authority.

What your team sees

  • Label Check Queue — Pending checks with their artwork, check type and recorded reviewer.
  • Failed Label Checks — Failed results and supporting evidence for investigation before the inspection decision.

Follow the work through

Rehearse artwork and label review, then use inspection and disposition to connect the evidence with the quality decision.
