What you can do
Retain the decision behind the state
A policy review decision identifies the source revision, decision, reviewer, date, reason and operation key. It is linked to the policy, so a later operator can see which version was approved, rejected or returned. An attachment records its title, evidence type, uploader, upload time and visibility. These records give the Authorized Underwriter and Auditor a way to inspect why a guarded action was taken.
Operation receipts preserve the action, key, expected revision, result state, occurrence time and effect references. A pending or needs-review receipt can be reconciled against the effects that actually persisted. Completion is recorded only when the expected effects match. This is especially useful after an uncertain provider response: the team checks what happened before triggering another action.
How the work is organized
- Independent review. The reviewer decision belongs to a named policy revision and a named team member.
- Supporting evidence. Attachments remain linked to their policy with internal or shared visibility.
- Action result. Receipts connect a guarded action to its expected revision and recorded effects.
What to agree during setup
Agree what evidence the underwriter needs for policy issuance and which attachments are internal or shared. Decide who investigates failed and needs-review receipts, and what evidence is required to mark one complete. A reviewer should check the current policy revision before approving it. App Administrator maintains membership but does not take the underwriter’s business decision. Auditor receives read-only scope to inspect the same trail. Use a case with a returned decision and a later approved revision to show why the source revision matters.
Check the handoff on an actual case
An Insurance Coordinator prepares a policy and attaches supporting evidence. The Authorized Underwriter returns a revision with a reason. The coordinator corrects the policy, then submits the new revision. Examine both decisions and their distinct source revisions. After issuance, find the operation key and result on the receipt. If the action is pending, compare the effect references with the policy’s carrier ID and issue time before completion. A retry using the same key should lead back to the recorded effect. An Auditor should be able to inspect the path without altering the decision, attachment or receipt.
What your team sees
- Operations and results — Watch pending, completed and exception outcomes for guarded actions.
- Lifecycle and issuance — Open the policy that each review and receipt concerns.
Follow the work through
Read operation reconciliation for an exception case, and use roles to check who can decide or inspect.
