What you can do

Let another reviewer reconstruct the decision

A supervising attorney’s review decision points to a matter, a source revision, a reviewer, a date and a reason. The decision can approve, reject or return the work. An operation key links it to the guarded action it concerns. An operation receipt then records the action, expected revision, result state and any external or effect reference. Together they let counsel distinguish a decision from the later operational outcome.

How the work is organized

The coordinator prepares a current revision and its evidence. The attorney makes a separate decision on that revision. Record attachments keep titled files with upload date, uploader and visibility. A failed or review-needed receipt remains on the matter so the team can investigate whether the intended effect occurred. An approval by itself should not be read as evidence that the filing or other action completed.

  • Freeze the reviewed version. The decision identifies the source revision counsel saw.
  • Keep evidence attributable. The attachment includes its uploader and visibility.
  • Inspect the result. A receipt reports what happened after the decision.

What to agree during setup

Decide which records the attorney must see before a decision, how to assign an operation key and who investigates a failed result. Rehearse an approval on a submitted court deadline and a return that asks the coordinator to correct the filing reference. Include an attachment marked Internal and one marked Shared so each role can confirm the intended audience. Keep the matter record as the common thread.

Check the handoff on an actual case

A submitted deadline lists a court, due date and filing reference. The supervising attorney compares those details with the court calendar and filing receipt, then approves the submitted source revision. The operation receipt records whether the guarded action completed and which external reference was involved. The auditor can read the decision, its reason and the resulting receipt under the same matter.

If the receipt says Failed, the coordinator does not simply retry with a new reference and assume success. The team checks the earlier operation key and external effect first, records the failure reason and asks counsel to reconcile the evidence. This preserves a coherent history if the external outcome is uncertain.

What your team sees

  • Filing exceptions — Failed or review-needed actions for investigation.
  • Attorney decision record — Reviewer, source revision and reason.
  • Completed court filings — Filing records to reconcile against decisions and receipts.

Follow the work through

Follow decision to receipt for the guarded action. Review the filing process for deadline context. Review the implementation plan before release.
