What you can do
Start with a dated production source
A production snapshot is the record your team works from when it needs to explain a result. The Snapshot Owner identifies the organization, owner, measurement definition and production date before observations are checked. The number and source record ID help the analyst distinguish this source from another day’s capture. A revision identifies the exact record used by validation and review.
The Production Snapshots Workspace is where the analyst invokes validation and efficiency computation. Those actions operate on one revision. In a morning handoff, the owner can open the dated snapshot, check scheduled minutes, run minutes and unit totals, then ask the analyst to validate the revision. The operations manager sees whether that source has reached analysis and whether an action remains open.
How the work is organized
- Ownership. Each snapshot has an organization and a named owner, so a question about an unusual value goes to a person.
- Measurement. The linked production resource supplies the definition context; the snapshot keeps the observed time and unit values.
- Revision. Runs, decisions and state history can be traced to the revision that was checked.
What to agree during setup
Agree how production dates are assigned across shifts and time zones. Decide which source record ID is stable when an upstream capture is repeated. Define the meaning and units of scheduled minutes, run minutes, total units, good units and scrap units. Put that agreement beside the production resource so an analyst does not combine different definitions in one trend. If records arrive from an external production system, map that connection and its field names before the first operating cycle.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Take a snapshot with a named owner and a complete production date. Record its observed minutes and unit quantities, then link the machine facts that support it. The analyst checks the facts before invoking validation from the workspace. Inspect the run number, source revision and step outcome. If the value is questioned later, the team should be able to open the same source revision, the associated decision and the source evidence without guessing which capture produced the number.
What your team sees
- Production snapshot queue — Dated sources waiting for collection or validation, with owner and revision beside the status.
- My production snapshots — The sources assigned to the current owner.
- Snapshot status board — Sources grouped by lifecycle status for the operations handoff.
Follow the work through
Follow observation validation and efficiency calculation. The data model shows the keys used to relate a source to its run and reviewer decision.
