Network Inventory Management · Available now

Trace network asset work from request to verified evidence.

Network Inventory Management brings an asset directory, work orders and device port assignments into one operating record. A clerk starts with an active asset, chooses the item and location, sets a due date and requested quantity, then records the device, port number and VLAN on an assignment linked to that work order.

  • No per-user fees
  • Manual work is free
  • Configure it in Proto

AI agent

Prepare the case with Proto

Ask Proto to prepare work context while people make the recorded decisions.

It can

  • Inventory Clerk: Find active assets, current work orders and held port assignments for a selected site.
  • Inventory Supervisor: Assemble the parent work order, current revision, assignment and posted evidence for review.
  • Auditor: Trace a decision, correction and operation receipt back to their parent work order.
  • App Administrator: Check the roster and organization context before granting access to a new operator.

Stays with a person

  • The agent can prepare records and explain the trail.
  • A person with review authority decides the work order's scope.
  • The agent should use the current revision and should not infer an approved outcome from a held assignment or a draft evidence entry.

Implementation

Roll out one team at a time

Start with one team and one process, then add the rest once the basics are running.

  1. Establish organizations and people

Confirm the operating organization, active team members and who will prepare, review and audit work.

  2. Load the operating map

Check active assets, item codes, lot locations and the device naming convention used by the field team.

  3. Set up the work cycle

Create a representative work order, held port assignment and attachment; check that the current revision is visible to the reviewer.

  4. Rehearse decisions and evidence

Record approval, execution evidence, a failed reconciliation and a corrected result.

  5. Start daily review

Use Operations Overview, open work orders, held assignments and failed receipts to direct follow-up.

FAQ

Scope, rollout and pricing for Network Inventory Management.

All questions
How do I get started?

Click Get started, then use Proto to configure Network Inventory Management for your business. Pilot one active site, a small item range and a work order that reaches review and verification.

What is the main operating record?

The work order is the parent for port assignments, evidence, decisions, attachments and operation receipts.

Where do device ports and VLANs go?

Enter the device, port number and VLAN on a port assignment linked to the work order.

Who reviews a port assignment?

Inventory Supervisor examines the current work order revision and records the decision and reason.

How does a field worker see assigned work?

Open Work Orders shows the owner on each active work order. The clerk can find the assigned record there.

What happens when evidence does not match scope?

Reconciliation writes a failed operation receipt and leaves the work order unchanged. The team inspects the posted evidence and authorized quantity before another attempt.

Can a canceled work order be approved later?

The port approval workflow refuses an already canceled or executed parent.

What happens to a held assignment when scope changes?

Correcting or cancelling authorized scope releases held port assignments attached to the work order.

Can an auditor follow a correction?

The Stock Movements Ledger keeps the original and successor entries, and receipts retain their action outcomes.

Where does the team see urgent exceptions?

Operations Overview ranks late work beside failed operation receipts and escalated reviews.
