How a Food and Beverage D2C OMS rollout works

Pilot a perishable order from customer request to verified completion.

  1. Agree the operating boundary

Name the fulfillment organization, order owners, independent reviewer and exception investigator. Identify the commerce, payment and carrier systems that provide external facts.

  2. Map reference records

Load customers, delivery addresses, products, prices and storage regimes before orders. Retain stable source identifiers for each customer and SKU.

  3. Pilot an order cycle

Enter a Draft order, submit it for Review, record the decision, allocate lines and record shipment events and handoff evidence.

  4. Rehearse exceptions

Work a temperature excursion, returned review decision, payment mismatch and cancellation after execution. Inspect receipts and revisions after every case.

  5. Reconcile and release

Compare order totals, lines, payment evidence, events and receipts with source records. Have each named owner accept the evidence and access they will use.

What the customer provides

  • Customer and ship-to addresses, product SK us, prices and storage expectations.
  • A recent order with its lines, lot and best-by detail, promised date and fulfillment organization.
  • Carrier handoff references and payment provider references for that order.
  • The people authorized to prepare, review, fulfill, investigate and reconcile.

Changing it afterwards

Review changes to a product, address or order revision with the owners of affected work. Keep earlier decisions, events and receipts available so a later correction can be explained. Rehearse the same ordinary and exception cases before expanding to more channels or product groups.
