What you can do
Carry the booking into the visit
The Instructor starts from a confirmed booking and checks that the member, session and pet match the animal arriving at the studio. Attendance records when that booking was checked in and which staff member recorded it. The delivery command moves the booking to Attended, consumes one plan session and marks the session Completed after all its bookings have reached a terminal outcome.
Grooming work is captured separately for the booking and pet. The record carries the service type, coat condition and completion date, so the next instructor can read what was actually done for that animal. This is a service history for a pet, not a general note on the member. When an owner has more than one pet, the pet link is the crucial part of the handoff.
How the work is organized
- Check-in. Work from a confirmed booking and record the staff member responsible for attendance.
- Service evidence. Capture the delivered service and coat observation against the exact pet.
- Session completion. Review all booking outcomes before treating the session as finished.
What to agree during setup
The Studio Manager should identify who may mark a booking Attended and what evidence an Instructor must record before the pet leaves. Decide how staff handle a no show without producing attendance or grooming work, and how they correct a pet selected in error. The capture command validates the acting instructor through their People.User link and validates both booking and pet references. It also rejects impossible intervals and returns the original record for a repeated booking, pet, service type and completion date.
Train instructors to read the handling notes before beginning work and to describe coat condition in language the next team member can understand. If a grooming visit includes more than one service type, keep each recorded piece of work tied to the same booking and pet. Review the resulting history before another appointment so continuity depends on the saved record rather than one person’s memory.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Confirm a member’s place in an open session and select the owner’s pet. Have the assigned Instructor check in that booking and record grooming work with a coat condition. Verify Attendance identifies the booking and recorder, the Booking is Attended and the grooming services record points to the correct pet. Submit the same grooming work again and expect the existing record reference. Inspect the session after every booking has ended and confirm that it is Completed.
