What you can do

Record the measured harvest

A harvest record belongs to a crop cycle and carries the date, quantity, unit and grade. Harvest Reviewer is named in the accepted-by reference. That gives the manager a record of what was harvested from a specific crop and field, instead of relying on an observation estimate or a task completion as a yield figure.

The cycle provides the crop and variety context. Harvest work can also appear as a field task, with an owner and completion date. These records serve different purposes: the task tracks the work, and the harvest record tracks measured output. Farm Manager reads both before closing the cycle.

How the work is organized

  • Measured output. Enter quantity and unit on the harvest record with its actual harvest date.
  • Quality context. Record grade alongside the quantity so later summaries retain the distinction.
  • Reviewer. Associate the decision with a Team Member rather than an unverified typed name.

What to agree during setup

Agree the harvest unit used for each crop and the grade vocabulary the farm will use. Define when a reviewer checks the record and who may be selected as accepted by. Decide whether a field operation must be Completed before the crop cycle moves to Closed. The dates on the cycle and harvest record should tell a consistent story, particularly where harvesting occurs over more than one day.

A field operator can complete a Harvest task and record an observed output. Harvest Reviewer then checks the actual harvest record’s date, measured quantity, unit and grade against the linked crop cycle. The manager uses reviewed harvest quantities for comparison across cycles. A field observation about expected output remains part of scouting history, not the measured harvest total.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Create a harvest on a cycle marked Harvesting, enter a real date, nonnegative quantity, unit and grade, and select the reviewer. Open Harvests for review and trace the record back to the crop cycle and field. Compare the total with the completed Harvest task without treating task completion as a quantity. Then close the crop cycle and check that the harvest remains attached to its original cycle.

Try a record with no unit or an invalid quantity. The reviewer should resolve it before acceptance. Also test a harvest linked to the wrong cycle; its crop and field context must be corrected before it contributes to the manager’s crop comparison.

What your team sees

  • Harvests for review — Check dated quantity, unit, grade and named reviewer by cycle.
  • Crop cycles in progress — Find cycles currently marked Harvesting.
  • Field work due — Review dated harvest tasks with their owner and status.
