What you can do

Advisor capacity in daily work

Review advisor rates, practice ownership and weekly capacity alongside delivered work. The Engagement Manager compares weekly capacity with logged hours and existing active engagements before assigning delivery ownership. The Partner checks bill and cost rates alongside each advisor practice. These records support a staffing decision made by the manager.

How the work is organized

  • Ownership. Engagement Manager takes the first action and passes the record to the next named owner when a decision is due.
  • Source records. Advisor, practice and engagement records show rates, capacity and current work.
  • Exceptions. Use the saved list screens and operation history to find work that needs correction or follow-up.

What to agree during setup

Agree who maintains rates and weekly capacity, and when changes take effect. Check that each advisor belongs to the intended practice and remains active. An engagement names its manager but has no separate staffing assignment record. Use advisor and engagement records to agree delivery responsibility.

For a person who works across practices, check the advisory practice on the advisor record before using its rates in a margin discussion. Logged hours describe work already recorded; weekly capacity describes an intended planning limit. Compare both with the start and end dates of active engagements. If the manager changes, update the engagement reference and confirm the next advisor knows where to record delivery.

Check the handoff on an actual case

A principal is considered for a new client engagement while already carrying active work. The Engagement Manager compares weekly capacity with logged hours and checks the advisor’s practice, bill rate and cost rate. The Partner can assess the effect on engagement margin before assigning delivery ownership.

For the principal considered for new work, compare weekly capacity with logged hours and current active engagements. The Partner checks cost and bill rates before discussing expected margin. The Engagement Manager confirms the new engagement owner and tells delivery advisors which engagement to use for time and service entries.
