What you can do

Clients and engagements in daily work

Keep each advisory engagement tied to its client, practice, owner and commercial baseline. The Partner keeps the client account and billing terms current. The Engagement Manager gives each engagement its client, manager, practice, contract value, budget and delivery dates. They agree when a proposed engagement is ready for active delivery.

How the work is organized

  • Ownership. Partner takes the first action and passes the record to the next named owner when a decision is due.
  • Source records. Client, engagement and practice records establish ownership and commercial terms.
  • Exceptions. Use the saved list screens and operation history to find work that needs correction or follow-up.

What to agree during setup

Agree which Partner owns the client and which Engagement Manager owns delivery. Match client billing terms to the commercial agreement. Confirm the owning organization and use a stable engagement code. Decide when a proposal can become active and who corrects a client or practice link that points to the wrong record.

Before moving a prospective client into active work, compare the client contact and account owner with the people who will receive billing questions. The engagement manager checks the proposed dates against the agreed delivery period. If the practice changes ownership, update the organization reference deliberately and tell the advisor which engagement remains the source for work already recorded. Keep historical service and fee records linked to their original engagement.

Check the handoff on an actual case

A prospective client asks for a fixed-fee engagement. The Partner records the client, contact and billing terms. The Engagement Manager names the owning practice, the engagement manager, dates, contract value and budget hours. The team can then follow the proposed engagement through active delivery without losing the original commercial context.

The Engagement Manager checks the fixed-fee case client, contract value, budget and dates before accepting ownership. If client terms change, update the client record and review the engagement before the next fee billing. The proposed and active lists show the handoff without changing the contract meaning.

What your team sees

  • Active Engagements — Active engagements with client, manager, dates and contract value.
  • Proposed Engagements — Proposed engagements whose scope still needs agreement.

Follow the work through

Follow the operating process for the handoff and the data model for the source relationships. The implementation plan sets the first rehearsal scope.
