What you can do

Service approvals in daily work

Decide whether submitted service lines qualify as accepted delivery. An Advisor submits a billable service line with hours and an engagement. The service approval operation validates those conditions, approves an eligible line and writes a review decision and operation receipt. The Service Reviewer checks the outcome and follows up on failed cases.

How the work is organized

  • Ownership. Advisor submits the line; Service Reviewer checks the operation result and routes corrections to the Advisor.
  • Source records. The service line, its engagement, review decision and operation receipt explain the result.
  • Exceptions. Use the saved list screens and operation history to find work that needs correction or follow-up.

What to agree during setup

Agree how Advisors describe delivered work and identify its engagement before submission. Give the Service Reviewer access to submitted lines, decisions and receipts. Decide who fixes an invalid line. The operation checks billable work, positive hours and an engagement; inspect its result before treating delivery as accepted.

The review decision and operation receipt provide different evidence. The decision records the approval result for the service entry; the receipt records the executed operation and its outcome. When a guard fails, leave the submitted source visible for correction. Do not count its amount as approved delivery before the operation succeeds. The Engagement Manager can compare accepted service with the engagement budget and delivered amount.

Check the handoff on an actual case

An advisor submits a billable service line with hours and a linked engagement. The review operation approves it and writes a decision and receipt. If the line has no hours, is not billable or lacks an engagement, it stays submitted and the failed receipt gives the reviewer an exception to resolve.

Check the submitted line hours and engagement, then inspect the approved status, review decision and successful receipt. Repeat with a line that has no hours. It stays submitted and receives a failed receipt. The Advisor corrects the source; the Service Reviewer checks the new outcome while retaining the earlier receipt.
