What you can do

Time and expenses in daily work

Keep advisor time and engagement costs attached to the client work they support. Advisors record time and expense details against the engagement they worked on. A time entry records hours, date and billable choice; an expense records category, amount and receipt link. Submitted records stay visible for review.

How the work is organized

  • Ownership. Advisor takes the first action and passes the record to the next named owner when a decision is due.
  • Source records. Time and expense records retain their advisor and engagement context.
  • Exceptions. Use the saved list screens and operation history to find work that needs correction or follow-up.

What to agree during setup

Agree how Advisors choose the client and engagement for time entries, which expenses are billable, and where receipts are stored. Decide who checks submitted time and expenses and how rejected records are corrected. Keep these reviews separate from service-line approval.

A submitted expense can have a receipt link and still need a person to check whether it belongs to the right client engagement. Keep the receipt with the expense record and compare its date and amount with the source. For time, distinguish billable hours from nonbillable hours when reviewing delivery. A service line is its own record and follows the separate approval operation.

Check the handoff on an actual case

An advisor logs a day of client work and a travel expense against the same engagement. The time entry carries the work date, hours and billable choice. The expense carries its amount, category and receipt link. The Engagement Manager can review the submitted records with the engagement context before making a separate operational decision.

For the day of client work and travel, the Engagement Manager checks that both records point to the intended engagement. The time entry shows work date and hours; the expense shows its receipt and amount. Ask the Advisor to correct a wrong link before using either record in delivery or margin review.
