What you can do
Make the result traceable
An inspection in review brings the characteristic results to the deciding person. Quality Approver checks the recorded requirement, observation, result and evidence for the inspected scope. An accepted result closes the inspection decision as accepted. A rejected scope moves the inspection to rejected and creates a linked nonconformance in containment. This link lets the team find the inspection that first identified the problem.
Consider an incoming assembly whose dimensional characteristic fails. The Inspector records the observation and attaches the measurement evidence to that check. Quality Approver reviews the full set of linked checks and rejects the inspected scope. The resulting nonconformance references the inspection, so Quality Manager can investigate without creating a second, unrelated account of the defect.
How the work is organized
- Review queue. Inspections wait in review after their linked requirements and results are recorded.
- Decision. Quality Approver evaluates the checks before confirming acceptance or rejection.
- Containment record. Rejection opens a linked nonconformance that can be followed by severity and status.
What to agree during setup
Agree how a reviewer identifies the inspected scope in the subject reference and where the evidence for a failed characteristic belongs. Decide how severity is chosen for a nonconformance and which person takes the containment assignment. The app retains minor, major and critical severity values. Use the same definitions across the pilot, especially when two teams inspect the same kind of part at different stages.
Agree who may prepare the inspection and who makes the disposition decision. Quality Approver is the review role. Quality Manager can watch the open and critical queues after a rejection. The nonconformance record holds description and detection date, while its inspection link gives the reviewer a path back to the original measurements.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Take one final inspection with a passing set of checks and another with a failed check. Submit each for review. Confirm that the accepted case ends at accepted without a new nonconformance. Reject the failed scope and confirm that the new containment record references the correct inspection. Then open the nonconformance from the quality queue and compare its description and severity with the original failed observation.
This review is a human decision. A failed characteristic makes the issue visible, but the reviewer still examines the complete scope before choosing an outcome. Nonconformance to correction follows the work after rejection.
What your team sees
- Inspections in review — Submitted cases and their subjects ready for a disposition decision.
- Critical severity — Nonconformances marked critical for immediate quality attention.
- Open nonconformances — Containment, investigation and disposition work connected to inspections.
Follow the work through
Inspection to disposition explains the decision point. Nonconformance to correction continues from a rejected case.
What it keeps track of
Data model- Inspections
- Quality inspections for aerospace and defense programs: incoming, in-process, final and service verification of parts and assemblies.
- Inspection checks
- Characteristic-level inspection checks recorded against an inspection, with requirement, observation, result and evidence.
- Nonconformances
- Nonconformances raised from inspections, with severity, containment, investigation and disposition state.
- People
- QMS people directory: quality managers, inspectors, auditors and approvers, each linked to their platform user.
Who uses it
Permissions- Quality Approver
- Decides the inspection outcome.
- Inspector
- Supplies linked results and evidence.
- Quality Manager
- Owns the resulting quality follow-up.
