What you can do
Explain the measurement being judged
A garment measurement records style, size, measurement point, nominal value, observed value and tolerance. It links to the inspection that will receive the quality decision. The measurement point matters as much as the numbers: a reviewer needs to know what was measured before comparing the observed result with the nominal and tolerance.
The garment capture workflow validates the selected inspection and each required measurement value. The authorized inspector submits the attributed detail by moving the linked inspection to Review. The reviewer considers those values with the inspection checks. Acceptance or rejection is recorded on the inspection, and failed scope leads to a linked nonconformance.
How the work is organized
- Identify. Use the style, size and measurement point to identify the garment condition.
- Compare. Record nominal, observed and tolerance values using an agreed measurement convention.
- Review. Submit the detail against the correct inspection so the reviewer sees the full case.
What to agree during setup
Set a consistent naming convention for measurement points across styles and sizes. Decide which nominal and tolerance values apply to each point, and how units are understood by inspectors and reviewers. A size designation alone does not explain the measurement. The inspection’s subject reference should identify the garment work being sampled or checked.
Agree how the team handles a value exactly at the tolerance boundary and how it records a failed observation in an inspection check. The workflow records the measurements, while the reviewer applies the agreed acceptance rule. Inspectors should verify the operational record before submission; an otherwise valid measurement linked to another inspection would reach the wrong reviewer.
Check the handoff on an actual case
An inspector starts a Final inspection for a garment style and records the subject reference. They enter a measurement for the selected size and point, recording nominal, observed and tolerance. They save the related requirement check with its observation and evidence. After the required checks are complete, they submit the garment detail and the inspection moves to Review.
The Quality Reviewer compares the observed value with the nominal and tolerance under the agreed rule. They accept eligible passing scope or reject failed scope. On rejection, they open a nonconformance linked to the inspection, record severity and assign the follow-up action to a Corrective Action Owner. A corrective action owner can then investigate with the original measurement and check evidence in context.
