What you can do

Give the batch a feasible work order

A work order brings the product, customer demand and resource together with a planned quantity and start and end dates. Production Planner prepares this basis while the work is marked Draft. The release request checks the current linked records, so the planner needs to inspect the demand and resource before authorizing work.

Customer orders carry required dates, with their lines identifying the requested items and quantities. Resource records carry the equipment name, daily capacity and availability. Follow the recipe’s production link when reviewing the formulation beside that plan. This gives the team a shared basis for discussing what will run and why.

How the work is organized

Production Planner prepares production and commercial records. Agree the customer-order approval procedure with Manager during setup, then confirm approved demand before the production-release request. Production Planner remains the person who authorizes the actual work-order release. Production Operator reads that released context before capturing consumption and output.

  • Check the demand. Open the linked customer order and verify that it is marked Approved before requesting production release.
  • Review the window. Check the planned start and end against the intended work and the team’s resource expectations.
  • Inspect the resource. Confirm that the selected equipment is marked Available; resolve Maintenance or Unavailable equipment before requesting release.

What to agree during setup

Agree the quantity basis for each finished product and who maintains daily resource capacity. Review a real operating interval when deciding whether a planned window is feasible. The planner should know which source owner to contact when equipment availability changes or a customer needs a different required date.

Set up the link between staff and their user accounts, then rehearse the release request with Production Planner’s actual account. A role title written on a staff record should be checked against the account’s operating access. The release action freezes the reviewed product and planned quantity, so staff need a clear procedure when that basis changes.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Prepare a work order for a finished product linked to an Approved customer order and an Available vessel. Enter a positive planned quantity and a window whose end follows its start. Production Planner reviews the product and formulation basis, then requests release. Inspect the resulting work order and confirm that it is marked Released.

Repeat with the vessel marked Maintenance. The request should be rejected until the planner resolves the resource basis. Next use a linked customer order still marked Draft and confirm that its existence alone does not satisfy the demand prerequisite. Include a nonpositive planned quantity and a reversed date window in the same rehearsal.

Ask Production Operator to open the released work and identify the product and quantity the planner reviewed. Keep the release request identity available when investigating repeated actions. The operator’s handoff should match the actual released basis, including the selected resource and linked order, before material consumption begins.

What your team sees

  • Production Schedule — Inspect released work and its planned start and end dates alongside the product and resource.
  • Draft Work Orders Awaiting Release — Review demand, quantity and equipment before the planner decides.
  • Work Order Board — Follow active production work by its recorded lifecycle state.

Follow the work through

Use production release for the decision rehearsal and production to quality release for downstream evidence. Prepare access using the roles page.
