What you can do
Reference rates and account balances
Exchange rates records currency, effective date, rate and override flag. Account snapshots records the provider snapshot identity, date, ledger balance and available balance for a financial accounts record. Treasury operations can inspect both alongside the quote and instruction. The provider-issued account identity gives snapshots a stable place in the operational record.
How the work is organized
- Identify the record. Before reviewing a quote, Treasury Approver can inspect rates by currency and effective date while comparing the quote’s send and recipient amounts with its parent instruction. Reconciliation Analyst can inspect account snapshots around a provider event. A balance difference points to follow-up work; it does not identify which individual instruction caused the movement without event evidence. The snapshot date matters when comparing it with a value date.
- Keep the sources distinct. exchange rates provides a dated rate for a currency; account snapshots carries a provider balance for a specific financial account. Neither is a settlement event.
- Follow the event. Reconciliation Analyst checks the provider event identity and amount before treating a balance movement as a matched instruction.
The account reference on each snapshot lets the analyst compare balances from the same provider account over time. A rate can be selected by currency and effective date when the team reviews quote terms.
What to agree during setup
Agree the provider source for rate and balance updates, the time zone used for effective dates, and who handles an overridden rate. Keep provider snapshot identities unique so a repeated import does not create a misleading duplicate. Treasury Manager should decide when an account is inactive and how its historical snapshots remain available for reconciliation and audit.
Treasury Manager should assign owners for rate imports and provider snapshots. Rehearse an overridden rate and a repeated provider snapshot identity. Keep historical snapshots available when an account becomes inactive so the analyst can compare the original dates.
Check the handoff on an actual case
Select a provider account with a known currency. Inspect two snapshots on different dates and compare available and ledger balances. Then inspect a submitted quote and separately select a rate by the account currency and effective date. Confirm that the quote retains its own amounts and revision. Finally, inspect a reconciliation exception to verify the team follows the event identity rather than concluding settlement from a changed balance alone.
The analyst should leave the snapshot, account and provider event identities visible to the next reviewer. Repeat the case with an amount mismatch and check that a changed balance alone does not mark an instruction settled.
