What you can do

Bring the reason for a changed call into view

Sales Manager needs to understand why a forecast changed before deciding what to do about it. Slipped opportunities identify deals whose expected close moved out of the active open period. Forecast delta compares successive submissions for the same rep and period, while attainment compares the current call and closed amounts with the linked quota.

AI forecast calls add a scored recommendation for each open opportunity, with confidence and cited reasons. The recorded model and run date help the manager understand which recommendation is being considered. The rep’s category and the model’s recommendation remain available for comparison during the call.

How the work is organized

  • Date movement. Slip detection retains the old and new close dates and the affected amount when an opportunity moves beyond the active period. The manager follows unacknowledged slips and asks the rep to explain the customer change.
  • Target pace. Attainment relates closed, commit and total forecast amounts to the rep’s quota. The mid-period check compares commit attainment with the configured pace threshold and raises the manager follow-up.
  • Recommendation evidence. AI calls retain score, confidence, recommended category and reasons. Sales Rep and Sales Manager use those details to discuss disagreements with the rep’s current category.

What to agree during setup

Agree how the team distinguishes a date correction from a material slip and what explanation belongs with the event. The old and new dates should make it clear which period loses the opportunity and where it is now expected to close. Check the configured acknowledgement procedure with the manager.

Set the quota basis and pace threshold before relying on an early-warning discussion. A revenue target and a bookings target need their respective amounts. Decide who investigates a below-pace call and how the alert reaches that person through the configured notification delivery.

Review the AI model’s identity, input signals and run timing with Sales Operations. A high-confidence recommendation still needs the recorded reasons and the rep’s customer context. Agree how the team handles disagreement and retains the reason for any resulting category change.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Take an opportunity expected to close inside the pilot quarter and move its close date beyond the period end. Confirm that slip evidence retains both dates and the affected amount, then inspect the matching rep-period forecast delta. Ask Sales Manager to find the event in Unacknowledged Slips and explain its effect on the current call.

Open the opportunity’s latest AI recommendation and compare its category with the rep’s choice. Read the reasons before deciding whether the rep should change the call. Then inspect the rep’s attainment against its linked quota and rehearse a below-pace follow-up. Use the resulting discussion to decide what customer evidence or forecast revision is needed next.
