What you can do

Put-away decision

A Put Away Plan extends a stock request with a zone, planned units, handling class, required date and revision. The Inventory Coordinator prepares the plan and submits a specific revision. The Inventory Reviewer makes an independent decision on an eligible submission. The recorded decision and operation receipt let the team compare the approved scope with the request before stock work continues.

How the work is organized

  • Ownership. Inventory Coordinator and Inventory Reviewer handle the decisions and records in this area; keep the named owner visible on each request.
  • References. Follow the organization, item, location and parent request links when checking related work.
  • Evidence. Read the current status and revision together with the related decision or effect before a handoff.

The plan’s status is distinct from the request status. A request may be in Review while its plan is Submitted, so staff should open both records before acting. The Operations Overview helps locate the review backlog. During rehearsal, compare a successful approval with a rejection and inspect the decision’s source revision and operation key. Keep any attached evidence linked to the parent request.

What to agree during setup

Agree what each zone label means and who may edit planned units or handling class. Set the evidence expected before submission, particularly where a lot’s release state or a location’s eligibility note matters. The reviewer should know which changes require a new revision and which reason to record on a rejection or return. Name the approver independently from the coordinator preparing the plan.

Check the handoff on an actual case

Start with a request for an item due at a storage location. The Inventory Coordinator records the plan zone and planned units, then submits it. The Inventory Reviewer reads the frozen revision and checks the parent request, organization and handling class. An eligible approval records a decision and receipt; the plan can then be read as Approved. If the plan is rejected, its reason explains the decision. A later change should not silently inherit the earlier approval.

What your team sees

  • Submitted put-away plans — See the plans waiting for independent review.
  • Put-away plan board — Compare draft, submitted and approved plans by zone.
  • Review decision history — Read the recorded reason and source revision.

Follow the work through

Follow the operating process and implementation steps with a real request. Confirm that the item, location and organization references still point to the intended records after each handoff. Use the data model when preparing migration mappings, and bring the team’s actual codes and review authority to the rehearsal.
